Markdown Studio — Privacy policy
Updated:
Markdown Studio does not collect, store or share any personal data. No account, no ads, no tracking. Your documents are processed only on your computer.
- Your documents: Files you open are read and written only on this PC. The preview and PDF, Word, HTML and PNG output are produced entirely on your computer; no document is ever sent to a server.
- Recovery and session: To avoid losing unsaved changes, short-lived recovery copies and the list of open tabs are stored in
%APPDATA%\MarkdownEditor. A recovery copy is deleted when you save or close the document. - Settings and recent files: Stored only on this PC, in
%APPDATA%\MarkdownEditor. - Remote images: If a document links to an image on the internet (e.g.
https://…/image.png), the preview loads that image from its website. You can turn this off in Settings › Preview. - File Explorer preview: When you select a .md file in File Explorer, the preview is drawn on this PC; the file is not sent anywhere.
- Internet: The Microsoft Store version never connects to the internet on its own; updates come through the Store. The setup version, if "Check for updates automatically" is on, reads a small version file on GitHub at most once a day. No personal information is sent and the feature can be turned off. Links such as "Report a bug / idea" or "App page" open in your browser only when you click them.
- Microsoft Edge WebView2: The interface is drawn with Windows' WebView2 component, which Microsoft keeps up to date.
You can delete the app's settings when you uninstall it.
